Branding - Uncle Iroh’s Finest Blends
Personal work, 2021

The concept
The middle of lockdown was the perfect time to re-watch old shows, and Avatar: The Last Airbender has always been one of my personal favourites.
I had a newfound respect and admiration for the fictional Uncle Iroh - from his wisdom, kindness, to his wholesome sense of humour.
I imagined how his teas and personal philosophy could be branded in the real world on the premise that 3 friends from different corners of the world came together to keep his spirit (and low-key obsession for good tea) alive.
With heavy inspiration from the plot and worldbuilding from the show, I prepared a brand development guide for a start-up, ‘Uncle Iroh’s Finest Blends’.
And thus, Uncle Iroh's Jasmine Dragon located at Ba Sing Se, in the fictional Earth Kingdom from the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender, came to the real world.
I created illustrations for package design and logomarks using fictional characters and herbs referenced from the cartoons.
Illustrations
The patterns design took inspiration from tiles used in Uncle Iroh’s favourite board game, ‘Pai Sho’.
Pattern design, packaging merchandise:
I experimented with an already-existing public domain font, to make it look similar to the font used for the show’s title, ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’.
Logotype:
I made a separate brand icon for the purpose of using it as a stamp and on other marketing materials where a more simplified imagery could communicate better than a logotype.
Stamp:
The names of all the brews are more or less inside jokes or jabs at the show, its characters, and quirks.

All that’s left is to extend this brand into having its own website and app. Would you want to see what that looks like? Write me to let me know and it’ll definitely be a motivator!
