For about a year, I was a part of the editorial team at The Daily Star as a freelance illustrator. To this end, I created social media graphics and editorial illustrations for Star Youth.

 

Out every Friday, Star Youth is a publication by The Daily Star that highlights young changemakers and youth-related topics relevant to Bangladesh.

My job entailed art directing and creating the visual graphics and illustrations to be published. The sources I had to use to ideate and create the material were the finalised social media caption for social media posts and the approved article provided by the editor, Shababa Iqbal. It was a lot of fun working with her because she allowed me to express each article on its own provided the art style resonated with the target audience and took inspiration from appropriate influences that do justice to the scope of discussions in each article.
